Bronx, New York—National Public Safety Honor Day (NPSHD) was launched three years ago in the Bronx to acknowledge, recognize and thank our public safety personnel in New York and beyond. A day to show appreciations to the men and women whose primary job is to protect our lives, fortunes and safety on a daily bases; Individuals willing to sacrifice it all including their lives for the sake of others.

New York City, for example, has seen a drastic reduction in overall crimes for last several years, thanks to our beloved law enforcement agents. This reduction means more New Yorkers are alive and well today due to the competency, professionalism and sacrifices of these public safety angels.

National Public Safety Honor Day which takes place on the first Tuesday of December annually has received proclamations and acknowledgements from elected officials, including the governor and the mayor.

Indeed the status of safest big city in the nation is a milestone worthy of celebration by all New Yorkers.  "The skill and dedication of the men and women of the NYPD are keeping New York City the safest big city in America. With stronger bonds of trust with the community created with neighborhood policing, a singular focus on violent crimes and those who commit them, and ever stronger coordination with our law enforcement partners, we can continue to drive crime down even lower in 2019," said Police Commissioner James P. O'Neill.

Mayor De Blasio has long been an advocate of closer collaborations between police and the communities they serve. In addition to his Commissioner’s’ Neighborhood Policing initiative, there is a greater community and NYPD collaborations under his leadership. "Our city is yet again the safest big city in America thanks to the work our NYPD officers and community leaders are doing block by block across our five boroughs," said Mayor Bill de Blasio. "Neighborhood policing in New York City has defied the naysayers to become the model for 21st-century American law enforcement."

Joe’s Place, Pollo Campero, Jimmy’s Grand Cafe, Rainbow Florist and Erica Flowers Shop are among the local sponsors of National Public Safety Honor Day and its Appreciation Walk.
