An NBC news report stated that the two were cousins.

Approximately an hour later, a license plate reader located their vehicle heading to the bridge to Staten Island. Police issued a citywide alert at about 10:30 a.m.

They were located hours later by Delaware authorities near the New Jersey-Delaware border.

Police said they will be reunited with their family.
