New York Attorney General, Letitia James, has fined Google for misleading New Yorkers.

James disclosed this on Monday November 14, 2022, via her Facebook page.

“Along with a nationwide coalition, my office is forcing Google to pay $391.5 million, including more than $20 million to New York, for misleading millions of consumers about its location data tracking,” AG James said.

She stated that “everyone should be able to make their own decisions about their own data.”

“Google failed to tell its users that its “Web & App Activity” collected location data to turn a profit, and we’re making them pay a historic price,” she said.

“Companies cannot break the law and take advantage of their consumers to line their own pockets,” James concluded.
