2nd Annual Black History Month Healthy Lifestyle Borough to Borough Marathon Walk
Sunday, February 28, 2021, 12:00-2:00 PM
Dear fellow New Yorkers,
We would like to wish you a happy and healthy New Year. In light of the increased preventable ailments that are killing and destroying the quality of our lives, we would like to invite you to join our planned healthy lifestyle walk in the last day of Black History Month.
As Black History Month, February is an opportune month to educate, motivate and adopt healthy lifestyle and wellness habits, particularly among the young African descent people. In Africa for example, weight gain for men is regarded as signs of prestige and beauty for women.
So as the continent’s economic condition continues to improve as it has been for the last decade, this attitude can easily become genocidal and unsustainable to its healthcare budgets. On the other hand, over consumption of unhealthy food and sedentary lifestyles are epidemic among the African descendants in the Western World, especially those who live in poor urban communities. Since humans are one hundred percent identical gene wise, existing racial health disparities aren’t therefore inevitable. They are the result of unhealthy lifestyles, extreme poverty, and negligible government policies that failed to address them.
So to encourage this long overdue lifestyle modification revolution, particularly among the African descent people, we’ve decided to use Black History Month to promote a healthy lifestyle through New York Healthy Lifestyle campaign.
We invite political, religious, community, schools leaders and other stakeholders to join us in making this walk a success. Thank you!
