Bronx, NY – Today, March 23rd, Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez, in conjunction with Assemblywoman Karines Reyes and Senator Alessandra Biaggi, hosted a Women’s History Month Breakfast at the F & J Pine in the Bronx.
The breakfast honored six community leaders and activists: Ischia Bravo, Christina Conteras, Edith Blitzer, Nessie Panton, Nilka Martell, and Pearl Korn. The breakfast celebrates the accomplishments of the women in our state and community without whom social progress would not have been possible.
"Women's History Month is not only about celebrating the past but recognizing the accomplishments of women whose contributions are felt today and will be felt for years to come,” said Assemblywoman Karines Reyes. “I am honored to join my colleagues in celebrating these remarkable women making a difference in the Bronx."
Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx/Westchester) said, "One of the best ways to inspire young women to become leaders is to show them models of women who have been standing up and leading. The six women we are honoring today provided visionary leadership and commitment to the community, each in individual, creative and significant ways. Their invaluable service to our neighbors has had a profound impact on the people of the Bronx. I am proud and humbled to recognize their efforts."
“Our community is brimming with impactful, powerful, intelligent, and hard-working women,” said Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez. “Not only is this breakfast honoring such women, but it is also inviting everyone to stand and follow their aspirations. Only through positivity and example can we usher in a new generation of female leaders and advocates.”Assemblywomen Karines Reeyes, Nathalia Fernandez and State Senator Alexandra Biaggi
