Samelys López, a democratic candidate running for the United States House of Representatives to represent New York's 15th Congressional District has in the FEC fundraising tussle surged past her opponents, Ritchie Torres, and Ruben Diaz Sr., by 33% and 95% respectively.

Samelys has experienced exponential growth in her fundraising campaign following her endorsement by Bernie Sanders which has marked a turning point in the number of volunteers and voter contact she has garnered over the time.

Throughout the past two months with a 300% increase in overall funds Samelys has incredibly surged past her fundraising target of $300,000.

As an edge to her campaign, Samelys is mostly funded by working class people with an average contribution of $20 placing her at vantage over Ritchie with $294 per donation, and Ruben with averages $767 per donation.

Generally, in total money raised Samelys has outperformed Ritchie and Ruben in the fundraising campaign at the national, Bronx and in-district level.

As the deadline for the fundraising campaign approaches in the next 8 days, Samelys has reported no less than $130,000 cash on hand giving her a lead over her opponents.

Contrasting Smaleys’s fundraising performance to that of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Smaleys now has more cash in hand than Ocasio-Cortez in her primary in NY14 against Joe Crowley in 2018.

The case of Samelys outperforming her opponents in the fundraising struggle seems to reflect the same dynamics as that of Joe Crowley and Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley, a real estate backed candidate, in a poll he commissioned 20 days to the primary, was leading by 30%, but game would change much later to see Ocasio-Cortez leading in the fundraising campaign both in Bronx and in-district.

The fate that confronted Crowley then seems to await Ritchie who is equally a real estate backed candidate as his in district fundraising campaign grows weaker.

On the whole, contrasting Samelys’s exponentially growing fundraising performance to those of Ritchie Torres and Ruben Diaz Sr, Samelys is well positioned to emerge winner in the Democratic primary in NY-15.
