New York State Comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli, has met with other leaders in the State to address retirement security.

This outcome of the meeting was disclosed in a statement on Monday May 2, 2022.

"This week, I was pleased to join U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, his Representative for Pensions and Retirement Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, U.S. Representative Jerry Nadler, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and others at a roundtable discussion on a vital issue: millions of Americans are facing their retirement years with little or no savings,"   DiNapoli said.

He added, "With dwindling access to workplace savings accounts and overly complicated enrollment in the ones that do exist, we need to make sure some basic steps are taken to help address this crisis. Employers should make it easier for workers to auto enroll in retirement plans.

"As trustee of New York State’s pension fund, I have worked hard to make the Fund a leader in transparency, ethics and performance to help our 1.1 million members, retirees and beneficiaries achieve a secure retirement, but far too many Americans need to have some of that same assurance.

"They have a right to have savings waiting for them when it’s their time to retire."
