Ferran Torres’ hat-trick seals Barcelona’s 4-2 victory against Real Betis

Barcelona emerged triumphant with a 4-2 win over Real Betis, thanks to a remarkable hat-trick from Ferran Torres.

The victory proved pivotal in keeping the defending champions in the title race, although they currently trail league leaders Real Madrid by seven points.

Torres, marking his 100th appearance for Barcelona since his transfer from Manchester City two years ago, delivered a standout performance that showcased his hard work, discipline, and consistency.

Speaking to Movistar, Torres expressed his joy, stating, “It’s the fruit of hard work, discipline, consistency, of believing in yourself. I’m going to enjoy it, and today is my 100th Barca game so I can’t ask for more.”

Barcelona took an early lead as Torres capitalized on Pedri’s cut-back, finishing with precision after Ilkay Gundogan’s deflected pass found the midfielder in the area.

Torres continued his dominance, doubling Barcelona’s lead early in the second half, assisted by the impressive Lamine Yamal.

However, Betis, displaying resilience, managed to level the score as former Real Madrid playmaker Isco struck a quick-fire brace.

The game’s momentum shifted, prompting Barcelona’s coach Xavi to make strategic substitutions, including bringing on Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque for Robert Lewandowski.

The match witnessed late drama when Joao Felix, a substitute, produced a superb finish in the 90th minute to give Barcelona the lead. Torres, sealing the victory, netted again after a well-timed assist from Yamal.

Barcelona’s coach Xavi, under recent pressure, celebrated passionately on the sidelines, emphasizing the team’s determination to defend their crown. Isco, disappointed with the outcome, acknowledged his team’s effort, stating, “We did the hard bit which was to pull level after going two down, when they had control of the game … the team didn’t give up, had faith, and at 2-2 we had chances to go in front.”

Despite Betis’ resilient performance, Barcelona’s quality upfront ultimately made the difference, securing a crucial win in their pursuit of the La Liga title.
