Jonathan Majors sentenced to domestic violence counseling for assaulting ex-girlfriend

Renowned actor Jonathan Majors has been handed a sentence of one year of domestic violence counseling subsequent to his conviction for harassing and assaulting his former partner in New York City.

The verdict, delivered by the court, imposes a full protective order for Grace Jabbari, the victim, as announced during Monday’s sentencing proceedings. Additionally, Majors faces the prospect of a one-year jail term if he breaches any conditions of the sentencing. Notably, Jabbari has initiated a civil suit against him.

The conviction stems from an incident in December 2023, where Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment against Jabbari. The court determined that Majors had acted recklessly, though not with explicit intent to harm, during an altercation leading to his arrest in March of that year. The legal outcome underscores the seriousness of the charges brought against the actor.

Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial suggesting that Majors assaulted Jabbari following her discovery of a romantic text message from another woman on his phone. Graphic images of Jabbari’s injuries, including a broken finger and a lacerated ear, authenticated by medical professionals, were submitted to the jury. Jabbari attested that Majors inflicted these injuries while attempting to retrieve his phone during the altercation.

In contrast, the defense contended that Jabbari was the primary provocateur, characterizing the incident as an emotional breakdown rather than an act of aggression. Majors, though present throughout the trial, opted not to testify in his defense. Despite the legal proceedings, Majors’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the sentencing.

Jonathan Majors, aged 34, has gained recognition for his roles in prominent films such as “Creed III” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” However, in the wake of the verdict, Marvel Studios severed ties with the actor, indicating the industry-wide ramifications of his legal troubles.
