Fatal shooting at Bushwick Houses kills one, injures another
A late-night shooting at the NYCHA’s Bushwick Houses resulted in the tragic death of a 21-year-old man and left another with minor injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Friday near the Moore St. building close to Humboldt St.
The victims, ages 20 and 21, were leaving the building when a gunman opened fire. The 21-year-old was fatally shot in the head and was immediately transported by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The younger victim, grazed by bullets on his head, ears, and legs, later arrived at Woodhull Hospital and received treatment for minor injuries.
According to police reports, the surviving victim confirmed he was present at the scene during the shooting. The assailant and another suspect fled on a red moped, and no arrests have been made so far.
Authorities are actively searching for surveillance footage from the area to aid in identifying the gunman. The investigation continues as the community grapples with the violent event.
