Renowned investigative journalist John Pilger dies at 84

Legendary journalist John Pilger, an Australian-born crusader for truth, investigative reporting, and human rights, breathed his last on December 30, 2023, in London, leaving an indelible mark on the world of journalism.

Pilger, a stalwart figure in the field, had an illustrious career spanning over five decades, during which he worked for esteemed outlets such as Reuters, the Daily Mirror, and ITV’s World In Action.

His groundbreaking documentaries included “Year Zero: The Silent Death Of Cambodia” (1979) and “Thalidomide: The Ninety-Eight We Forgot” (1974), both of which earned him accolades for their impactful storytelling.

The investigative maestro was not only recognized with the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences award for exposing the Khmer Rouge’s crimes but also secured Bafta’s Richard Dimbleby Award for factual reporting in 1991.

Pilger’s unwavering commitment to truth-telling extended beyond the camera, as he fervently supported WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
