Man fatally shot in Bronx

A tragic incident unfolded outside the Throggs Neck Houses in the Bronx, as 32-year-old Trent Jackson lost his life in a violent shootout between two groups of men following a series of confrontations.

The sequence of events began with a pair of brawls near Dewey Ave. and Swinton Ave., just steps away from Jackson’s residence within the expansive Throggs Neck Houses complex.

The initial altercations occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Monday, leading to a temporary dispersal of the groups involved.

Approximately an hour later, tensions reignited when the same individuals reconvened at the scene.

This time, the confrontation escalated dramatically as firearms were drawn, resulting in a harrowing exchange of gunfire around 6:50 p.m.

Tragically, Trent Jackson sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head during the chaotic shootout. He was swiftly transported to Jacobi Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries approximately 40 minutes after arrival.

Law enforcement officials discovered fifteen shell casings of varying calibers strewn across the scene, attesting to the intensity of the violent encounter.

Police disclosed that Jackson had a history of multiple arrests, notably on gun-related charges in 2017 and 2018. This background contextualizes the complexity of the situation surrounding his untimely demise.

Surveillance footage captured a white SUV and a dark-colored Jeep fleeing the area following the shooting. The SUV was subsequently located in nearby Locust Point, accompanied by the recovery of blood-stained clothing nearby. Despite these leads, authorities have not made any immediate arrests in connection with the incident.
